It sneaks up on you, birding. One day you see the game Wingspan sitting in Target, thinking it looks like innocent fun. Then you receive a beginner’s birding book for your birthday, and the next thing you know, you’re standing next to a lake for an hour, hoping the Belted Kingfisher will finally ignore you and come near enough for a decent photo.

Now, I take my camera with me throughout Indiana and Kentucky, and occasionally further afield, seeking both common and rare birds to photograph in their natural environments. My goal is to capture their beauty and diversity through photography, hoping to evoke a sense of wonder and appreciation for these magnificent creatures.
